Spanish hospitals threatened by a different virus: Netwalker cyberattack

0

Netwalker is taking advantage of all this Coronavirus mess and trying to get into healthcare professionals’ computers through a phishing email, pretending to contain information about Covid-19. Those emails include a file that once executed encrypts the files on the computer, making them inaccessible. A cyberattack like this could easily render an entire hospital’s computer system inoperable. Once the victim’s computer systems are blocked, information about the ransom payment (usually, a cryptocurrency fee) to decrypt them is displayed.

The authorities have quickly instructed their health professionals to avoid opening suspicious mail with information that does not come from official organizations.
